Howdy! Folks,
Rockin along here in old Santa Fe, low 90’s today. A little toasty for the high desert. Hope everybody is safe, and healthy. Hope especially, my Texas friends, are still being careful. I hear Covid is on the rtise. Anyway, Melanie and I spent four days, two for travel, and two in the Howin’ Dog studio, with my dear friend Don Richmond, working on new album project. It’s going extremely well, and hopefully out by end of summer. Except for a couple of electric bass tracks, it is an all acoustic album, featuring my guitar pickin’ and vocals. Got some great tunes for you, Gordon Lightfoot, Keith Sykes, Jerry Jeff Walker, Hugh Prestwood, Townes Van Zandt, and many other great songwriters. Don Richmond, (Rifters) is all over the project, with some tasty mando, banjo, dobro, guitar, snare, and more, plus some nice harmonies. Michael Hearne also lending a big hand on some fine flatpicking, and vocals, and input as well. Bob Goldstein, former Bill Hearne trio member, lending a hand on guitar, and harp, on a song we dug up from Don’s recording files, Driftin’ Way Of Life, by Jerry Jeff. Melanie Marione Matthews, offered some beautiful duet harmony on the old Johnny Cash classic, I Still Miss someone. My buddy and another Hearnette besides Melanie, Franceasca Crutchfield, played some sweet violin on The Moon Is Still Over Her Shoulder, by Hugh Prestwood. David Thom, Zeke Severson, and Dave Toland will be adding bass, mandolin, and some vocal harmony. It’s great, and will be available on limited quantity CDS, and online as well. We’ll keep you posted.
A huge thanks to all, who have been supporting my Facebook Live show, you’ve been pulling me through these really tough times. No words can express my gratitude. There are no in person dates, as of now, restrictions pretty tight, here in New Mexico. Some venues are open, but no music for the short term future. In the Meantime, Melanie and I will keep doing the Facebook thing, and hope you’ll tune in, when you can. Please be careful, we’ll see you in person, when they let us. Love to all.

Sincerely,
Bill
