Bill’s Update

Hi! Folks, Back from a great trip to Texas, and back home safe. Thanks to all who helped me make this trip possible and much easier. Gruene Hall, as always was a lot of fun, and playing with Jim Richmond, guitar, mandolin, was truly a joy. Next time, we’ll, have a more prep time. Seeing, my dear friend, Butch Hancock, at the music in the mansion concert, moved to the Kerrville Folk Festival site, was the other highlight of my trip. Seeing him and Adrienne and hanging out with them, backstage, was special. Been two years, since we last saw each other. Of course I have to mention my good friends Kent and Candy Black at Black’s BBQ. Unfortunately we were not able to play at their venues this time around, but I had a couple of great meals with them including one with my niece and Her husband and their son , my great great nephew, At the original Black’s in Lockhart Texas. Maybe by spring will be able to do live music there again. I will be doing my next live from my living room, Live facebook stream with Melanie, next Wednesday NOV 11, it’s the usual 6 MST, 7CST. Really looking forward to getting back to my Wednesday night shows. Will have some new songs including a couple bar just passed, Billy Joe Shaver and my dear friend Jerry Jeff Walker. Never knew Billy Joe , but were so pleased to have Jerry Jeff Singing on three different projects, one with Bonnie and I in 1997, and two of my solo albums. Hope you’ll join me and Melanie next Week. Please take care, and stay well.

Howdy! Folks,
Great day here in old Santa Fe. Just finished some huevos rancheros at the Cowgirl BBQ patio, my favorite spot, every Sun morning. Also plan on hittin’ my buddy David Thom, and his Uncle DT’s Smokehouse, later this week, for a pull pork, “Big Boy” sandwich. Another one of my favorites, unfortunately, only take-out right now.
My buddy and personal assistant Melanie Marione Matthews, and I, attended a small gathering yesterday, where my good friend, Tom Williams, and his trio, performed, some true traditional country dance music. Thanks to Tom and the boys, Art and Kurt, fo letting me join in, on some tunes. Beautiful, fall afternoon, outdoor show. Thanks to Keith, and Joann, for having us. Live music is a rarity in Santa Fe these days.
Please, note my TX dates, two are public events. The Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation fundraiser, will be at the Festival site, due to Covid situation, instead of it’s regular site at Schreiner College in Kerrville proper. So looking forward to playing with my buddy Butch Hancock, on that event. The following day, I’ll be at Gruene Hall, one of my favorite venues to play. I’ve been playing there for over 20 years, and I understand it is very safe, Covid protocols, strictly enforced. After that a live Facebook streaming at Poor David’s Pub in Dallas. We are limited to 15/20 invitees, already have a few, but check with Poor David’s, and if room available, love to have you there for the streaming. Aoudad House Concerts, my friend Joel White and wife, Kelly, in Amarillo, wrap my Texas swing this time around. I’ve posted on separate email, the link to the show. Limited to 30, outside, weather permitting. Must have a ticket, it’s free, but must have one, to come. Again, social distancing and mask appreciated . Donations, appreciated as well.
That’s about it for now folks, hope to see you soon, in TX, hear from you on my live streaming. Please be smart, and careful out there, and let’s keep our heads up and hope things will be better soon. My love and appreciation to each of you for your support and donations, and don’t forget, my new CD, “A Very Shor Time”, is now available on It’s an Americana CD, featuring covers of some of my favorite singer/songwriters, such as: Gordon Lightfoot, Jerry Jeff Walker, Townes Van Zandt, Rodney Crowell, etc. Check it out. Produced by myself, Don Richmond (Rifters), and assistance from Michael Hearne, Melanie Marione Matthews, cover and inside photo, harmony vocal on “I Still Miss Someone”. Love to all, see you soon.
