Mon/Tue-La Fiesta Lounge at La Fonda Hotel, Santa Fe, 7:30/10:45
Hope your new year is off to good start. Other that being slow month musically, we’re all good. Had a wonderful Christmas with friends, and my Texas Longhorns defeated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, to start 2019.
As usual I will be at La Fiesta Lounge this Mon/Tue evenings. Hope you can join me, it’s all we got going this week. I’m excited about the official public release mine and Bonnie’s documentary, “New Mexico Rain. I’ll have more details soon, but it will be at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival next month on Feb 17th. Also we have confirmation from the Durango, CO, festival and the Denton, TX, music and film festival down the line in Apr. As soon as I have more details, I will let all you folks know. Unfortunately, we did not get accepted by SXSW in Austin, but that’s OK, it’s tough one to crack.
I’m headed to Austin, on Wed Jan 16th, and it’s not to play music, but to listen for a change. When I tour, I never get to enjoy my friends, and other artists, so my dear friends, Kent and Candi Black, invited me down to hang out for a few days. Kent and his family are the owners, of Black’s BBQ, which now has four great Locations, Austin, 31st and Guadeloupe, Lockhart, the original, San Marcos, and the new store in New Braunfels. If you want BBQ, go no further, my favorite is their brisket, but, it’s all mighty fine. Also, plan on visiting my buddy a former bassist/driver Craig Barker and his beautiful wife Kathleen. Plan to catch Heybale, and my friend Earl Pool Ball, at the Continental Club. They are one of the top traditional country bands still in existence. We’ll see what else is going on. There is a bunch happening, no matter when you go there. May even get to visit my buddies Melanie and Tim, while I’m there, and one of mine and Bonnie’s dearest friends, Pam Scott.
Please take care, and we’ll see you down the road. BTW, a shout out to Jim and Brenda Robillard, for giving me a bump next Wed, to the ABQ airport. Great friends. Stay well, and one last happy new year to all. Onward and upward, as my sister in spirit, Becky Crutchfield and I say to each other.
