Great week last week and early this week with my buddy Don Richmond at his studio in Alamosa, CO. New classic country CD moving right along. Zeke, Dave, Bob, and great fiddle player Ollie OShea, working with me five days. Well be starting a pre-order Kickstarter drive very soon and you can get on board for this new project. This is music that I grew with my early tunes, not typical of most kids in the early 60s of my age. Again, the project will be on Dons Howlin Dog Records. More to go, but were getting there. Found some great obscure gems, Haggard, Buck, George Jones, and others. Great dancing music. Well let you know, when all is in place. Take care, be back in touch soon.

Quiet week this last week, a little busier this week for sure. After our regular La Fonda dates this week, I’m heading up to Alamosa, CO, to continue work on my new “traditional country”, some say classic country, recording project. Again, I’m working with my dear friend Don Richmond at Howlin’ Dog Studios. This will be my fifth project with Don, including the Bill & Bonnie Celebration album from the La Fonda Hotel, in 2002. You might ask why I’m going 280Mi, round trip, to record. The answer is, it’s the best studio for vibes, and recording heartfelt music, that I have ever found. I will say that Jack’s Tracs in Nashville with Jim Rooney, is a close second. It’s a long way to Nashville, and the studio is very different these days. Don has created, in opinion, the best studio for Americana music in the world. It is worth every mile, and now, there are accommodations available in an artist residence, built by Don’s partner in Howlin’ Dog Records, 5min away. Helluva set-up for a solo or, small band. Alamsosa is a “cool” place, spiritually, and literally, with great restaurants, small town vibes, and small state college. We’ll be starting a pre-order crowd funding project, much as we did with the Hearne Family, next month, possibly later this month. Boy, I can’t tell you how excited I am about doing another batch of “real country” music. As always, I’m staying with the “back 40” on this album. You won’t hear Your Cheatin’ Heart, or Act Naturally. I always find some gems, that few have recorded, and never made the radio in their day.
We’re experimenting with a little for kitty for Bonnie, Anna is her name. Not sure if it’s going to work out, we’ll no in another week, after I leave for Colorado. Bonnie continues with another round of PT with her left shoulder, which received a full replacement about two months ago.
Also very excited and honored to invited to my dear, the late Chuck Pyle’s tributes on 10/7/8. Chuck was a mainstay at Swallow Hill Music, and also palyed a couple of times a year at Avogadro’s Number’s special music room. Both shows are to raise funds for young writers who need financial assistance attending the songwriter school each year at the Kerrville Folk Festival, where Chuck was a “house whole word” so to speak. If you’re In Colorado, are know folks in Colorado, who love Chuck’s music, these are both going to be great events. Check out bothe venues websites for more info.
As stated, the trio will not be at the La Fiesta Loung on 10/9/10, but will be back as usual on 10/16/17. Stay well, and look forward to seeing you soon. BTW, our Texas dates are up on the website, www.billhearne.com. It’s coming up soon, starting 11/3/17.

Everyonde di great shows, great vibes as well. Great to have the Hearne family up for New Mexico Rain. Sold a ton of our Hearne Family Album. Just a short note, to say hello to all. Most importantly, want to offer our love and support to all the good folks in the greater Houston and upper Texas gulf coast. Unbelievable tragedy, and our positive energy goes out to them.
Of much lesser importance, I did start my new CD project, as yet untitled, which goes back to my classic country roots. Myself, Earl Poole Ball, Don Richmond, and my former bassist, Susan Holmes, spent two great days in Alamosa, CO, at Dons Howlin Dog Studio. Ill release it on Howlin Dog Records, sometime next year. A lot of work left to do, but we got a good start. Bob, Dave, and Zeke will be joining in on this project down the road Terri, Dons wife, will be setting up a crowd funding procedure to pre-order the CD, much as we did with the Hearne Family Album. I let you know when thats in place. We got rhythm tracks for 7 songs, four Buck Owens, one George Jones, a Lefty Frizzell tune, and a Ray Price ballad, as well. More work on this project in October. If you love, real country music, then this CD is for you. No cliché hit covers, very obscure tunes.
Big Barn Dance coming up next week, hope youve made your plans to be with Michael Hearne, and all the great music happening. Bonnie is very much recovered enough, shoulder replacement, to come for Friday and part of Saturday, and hopes to sing a tune during my set with the Bill Hearne Trio. Michael and I, and Hearne family well doing a few tunes from the new Hearne Family Album, which will be available at the Barn Dance event. It also available on-line as well.
Gotta run for now, see you soon, and please stay well and appreciate every day, that comes your way, and as always, thanks for your love and support.
Being as this is Indian Market weekend in Santa Fe, my good friend Milton Johnson at Montecristi Custom Hats, has asked me to play Sunday afternoon, 8/20, for his bloody mary party from around 1P to whenever, probably around 3:30ish. If you’re checking out Indian Market, drop by and check out their beautiful Panama straw hats, all custom designed. They’re located at 322 McKenzie St, just east of intersection with N Guadeloupe. I’ll be pickin’ solo in the yard.
Also, my buddies, Mystic Lizard will be playing some fine Bluegrass at the Second Street brewery @ Second Street, also on Sun, from 11:30/1:30. If you love Bluegrass, it’s the place to be.. And, don’t forget The Rifters this Sat night, 7:30/10:30, at the Dance Station in Solano Center on W Alameda, Americana, country folk, and very danceable. Don will also be bringing me from his recording studio, copies of the brand new Hearne Family Album, featuring Myself, Michael hearne, and our family. I’ll have them for sale at the La Fiesta Lounge, at La Fonda, this coming Monday.
